INMA Award for
Print Design
The Oklahoman Media Company is Oklahoma’s largest and oldest media group, encompassing The Oklahoman newspaper, NewsOK.com, and BigWing Digital.
As part of the creative marketing team, I helped revitalize the company’s advertising identity and digital campaign strategy — blending the credibility of legacy journalism with a modern, data-driven design approach.
As a Print Designer, I played a key creative role in conceptualizing and designing this award-winning campaign — redefining how traditional print media could visually engage audiences in a rapidly digitalizing landscape.
Creative Approach
Working collaboratively within The Oklahoman’s marketing team, I developed a series of visually bold, narrative-driven layouts that combined elegant typography, audience driven visuals, and strong conceptual messaging.
The campaign highlighted the endearing qualities of a princess, it was audience driven since it targeted parents who wanted to see their children featured in the state's largest newspaper and local TV.
Core creative elements:
-
Cohesive visual system: introduced a new bold way to utilize the existing brand systems.
-
Concept-led messaging: used storytelling and imagery to reframe print advertising as premium, not peripheral.
-
Design restraint: leveraged brand colors and on topic visuals to command attention amid media clutter.
Results & Creative Impact
The campaign successfully repositioned The Oklahoman’s print advertising as modern, intelligent, and emotionally engaging.
Its design discipline and conceptual accuracy earned Third Place at the INMA Global Media Awards in the Best Execution of Print Advertising category — placing it among top global media innovations for that year.
